Soldiers On the Red, June 7th, 2015
Walleye Anglers Association of Manitoba is excited to join forces with the Canadian Armed Forces - Soldier On for an exciting day of fishing on the Red River. Our WAAM club started the Soldiers On the Red event which entailed of WAAM members taking retired and serving veterans and their families out cat fishing on the Red River in Selkirk. The event took place on June 7th.
Soldier On was founded in 2006 to empower retired and serving members of the Canadian Forces with an illness or injury (visible or non-visible) to accept their new normal by adopting an active lifestyle through participation in physical, recreational or sporting activities. This reintroduction to an active lifestyle helps them to develop new skills, build confidence in their abilities and realize their full potential. Many ill and injured members credit Soldier On with helping them to overcome their challenges and open doors to other life opportunities.
The event will feature members and friends of WAAM spending a day fishing with these heroes and their friends. We will have a BBQ lunch to allow all to celebrate and get to know each other better. A big thank you to all the sponsors, Todd Longley of City Cats, Danny Kleinsasser of Danny's Whole Hog, SPI International Transport, Enns Brothers, KFFAC, Gerdau Ameristeel, The City of Selkirk and Province of Manitoba. For more information on supporting Soldier On please check out their website at www.soldieron.ca/ If you would like more information or would like to support the event, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
